A WHALETOOTH SCRIMSHAW CARVING OF A GEORGIAN MALE PORTRAIT, C. 1800 - A finely carved scrimshaw portrait of a Georgian era English gentleman on a whale's tooth, probably that of a sperm whale. The gentleman's features are well defined, with hair, sideburns, and clothing typical of the late 18th and early 19th centuries, and a pronounced chin and full lips. England, c. 1800.
