A GILT-SILVER TURKOMAN HEAD-DRESS ORNAMENT, 19/20 CC. - This is the focal point of a traditional style of Turkoman headdress, particularly within the Teke tribe. The piece is beautifully fire-gilt, with the central areas retaining some non-gilt silver in intricate geometric patterns. The surface has been pierced with hundreds of small triangles throughout, and is set with polished carnelian cabochons at the center and along the edges.
