A LARGE PERSIAN AZERBAIJAN CAUCASIAN KINDJAL DAGGER WITH GOLD INLAY, 19TH CENTURY - A large Caucasian kindjal dagger of characteristic form, with its blade decorated to one side with brilliant gold damascene in traditional Islamic style. The hilt is comprised of two horn grip scales set around a tang with foliate gold damascene. The blade is kept within a black leather scabbard set with a gilt mount and retaining its original belt. Blade with it's ”no fuller” structure is rather rare for these daggers. Washers under the rivets are made of Persian coins. Southern Caucasus, NE provinces of Persia, 19th Century.
