A FINE KATAR DAGGER WITH SILVER INLAY, UNUSUALLY LARGE, 19TH C. - An unusually ornate katar dagger with its blade being intricately chased on both sides. One side showing a woman dancing under a tree while a bird watches from a branch, the other side showing a man, possibly a god, with a halo around his head and serpents entwined around him, and a beast chasing prey towards the tip of the blade. The handle, guard, and forte of the blade are inlaid with silver in beautiful floral motifs. Indo-Persia, 19th Century. Please make all inquiries before bidding. Condition: The blade is razor-sharp and has not been altered or cleaned. The silver inlay is well-preserved. A part of the handle hs a small crack. The scabbard fabric (original) is slightly worn.
