A PAUL LEIBKÜCHLER (1873-1947) SIGNED BRONZE OF SISYPHUS, CA. 1900 - An expressive rendition of Sisyphus carrying his boulder, sculpted by German artist Paul Leibküchler (1873 - 1947) and signed by him on the plinth along with the foundry inscription 'Aktiengesellschaft Gladenbeck Berlin D4397 Germany'. The underside of the piece is marked with the number 14951. The Gladenbeck foundry which produced this piece is probably most famous in the U.S. for their production of Schott's 'Three Dancing Maidens' which sits atop the Untermeyer Fountain in Central Park.
