A painted sculptural bronze candlestick depicting a young, loosely robed woman, as she sits at the base of a fountain, her broken jug lying discarded to one side. The fountain, shaped as a square pillar with a bearded man's face to one side as the spout, acts as the sconce of the candlestick. On the front of the piece is a stylized gilt label with the title 'La Cruche Cassée' or 'The Broken Jug'.
