A CARVED BONE ARMORIAL POWDER HORN WITH DRAGON'S HEAD SPOUT, 17TH/18TH CEN. - A carved bone powder horn decorated with hunting scenes on one side and an armorial frog-mouth helmet with a wing-shaped crest emblazoned with a checkered cross. The spout of the horn is carved in the shape of a dragon's head with its sharp teeth bared. The hole from which the powder is poured is plugged by a fleur-de-lys topped stick of carved bone that gives the appearance of a flame emanating from the mouth of the beast.
