A PAIR OF JAPANESE SILVER INLAID IRON AND RED LACQUER ABUMI (STIRRUPS), 17TH/18TH CEN. - 18th-century iron and silver-inlaid abumi of characteristic form, an encircled peony flower crest surrounded with a geometric pattern, the interior retains the original wood lining decorated in red lacquer. The sides and underside also inlaid. Signed by the maker. Edo period. Provenance: Private collection in Pennsylvania. H: 9 1/4 in., (23.5 cm.) L: 10 1/4 in., (26 cm.) Condition: Very good.
