A RARE ITALIAN GILT AND RED VELVET LOBED BOX WITH KEY, 18TH CENTURY
A rare Italian gilt-brass mluonted chest with the original key. Made of wood fninshed with dark-red velvet. its structure is reinforced by corner strips and gilt-bronze hinges with foliage decoration.
Italy, 18th century.
Provenance: Private collection in Pennsylvania.
7 x 5 3/4 x 4 3/8 in., (18 x 14.5 x 11 cm.)
Condition: The chest is in great shape considering its age. The vevet is slightly worn.
