A RARE SASANIAN PERSIAN CUT-GLASS BOTTLE, CA. 3RD-7TH CENT. AD
A beautiful cut-glass bottle from Sasanian Persia with carved circular decoration, a pearlescent finish, and a tapered hexagonal nozzle. Sasanian glassware was often carved from a block of glass rather than blown, or sometimes blown to a desired shape and then carved with detail, and often incorporated applied shapes around the outside, such as blobs, studs, or roundels.
Sassanid Persia - CA. 3rd - 7th Century AD
H: 5 1/2 in., (14 cm.)
Condition: Good overall. Iridescence due to burial present in much of piece.
