A 19TH C RUSSIAN KORNILOV BROS PORCELAIN PLATE WITH PROVERB
Kornilov Brothers, St. Petersburg, circular porcelain plate featuring a transfer-printed Cyrillic proverb to the rim. The Russian saying reads as follows: "Bread on the table, so the table is a throne. Not a piece of bread, so the table is a board." The verso has underglaze blue factory marks. The Kornilov Bros. porcelain manufactory produced dinner, tea sets, and other tableware in Russian folk style also referred to as Pan-Slavik style in the late 19th and early 20th century in St. Petersburg, Russia.
