A RUSSIAN SUBJECT BRONZE GROUP BY ALBERT MORITZ WOLF, 19TH C.
Albert Moritz Wolf (1854-1923), late 19th century.
Patinated bronze figural group depicting a Russian peasant girl with two horses at the well. Dark brown patinated bronze, on the terrestrian base, signed in Cyrillic.
Footnote: Albert Moritz Wolff, born in Berlin, studied at the Academy of Arts in the city. In 1881 he debuted at an exhibition in the academy with a bust of the preacher Nessler. Monument sculptures and medals, but most of all genre sculptures, produced by small foundries, such as Gladenbeck Berlin and WMF Geislingen, are present in his Oeuvre. The artist was presumably also active in Russia, as some of his typical motifs are signed in Cyrillic.
H: 8 1/2 in., (19 cm.)
Base: 14 x 7 1/2 in., ( 36 x 17.5 cm.)
Condition: The bronze appears to be in very good condition. No scratches, damages, or losses. One very small dent.
