A RUSSIAN ORTHODOX GILT SILVER AND CLOISONNE ENAMEL ICON, 19TH C. - Late 19th / early 20th century A Russian Orthodox icon representing The Mother of God of Kazan hand-painted in oil on a wood board cased in a chased and repousse gilt silver oklad with a border beautifully ornate with shaded cloisonne enamel patterns. The haloes of the Virgin Mary and Jesus are adorned with cobalt blue champleve enamel. Hallmarks: Maker's mark ”EU” in Cyrillic, 84 Imperial Russian silver standard. 3 1/2 3 in., (9 x 8 cm.) Condition: The icon appears to be in very good condition. Minor wear appropriate for its age. Some losses to velvet covering the back.
