AN ENGLISH PORCELAIN VASE DECORATED WITH DRAGONS, 19TH CENTURY - Porcelain vase in Japanese style featuring a tall fluted neck enameled with stylized floral ornament between two bands decorated with gilt 'cracked ice' pattern. Flanked by two handles, realistically modeled as winged dragons, with a fire pearl in each of their mouths. The ovoid body is skillfully enameled with waterbirds among bamboo and other plants. Raised on a spreading foot also enameled with traditional Chinese polychrome floral patterns on a gold ground. Unmarked, probably France, circa 1880s. H: 23 1/2 in., (60 cm.) Condition: Very good overall condition. Very small and insignificant losses to gilding on base and neck. Minor signs of wear associated with age.
