AN ICARUS BRONZE IN THE STYLE OF SCHMIDT HOFER
An Icarus bronze in the style of Schmidt Hofer was Probably given as an NSFK award in 1930s Germany
Allegory of aviation in the typical style of the 1920s (Art Déco). Signed on the plinth is "Schmidt-Hofer". On a marble sphere with a two-stepped base (minor imperfections). Total height 62 cm.
Schmidt-Hofer studied at the Royal College of Art and at the Educational Institute of the Arts and Crafts Museum in Berlin. He was a member of the Reich Association of Graphic Artists.
H: 14 1/4 in., (36.5. cm.)
Condition: Good overall, the bronze is slightly loose on the marble base.
