A 19TH CEN. FRENCH JEWELRY DESIGN OF THE CROSS BY VEVER - Original design by the famous jeweler Vever. The design depicts a cross partly blue-colored and decorated with religious images and engraved inscriptions in the center, and intricate adornments to the sides. Signed by the artist, 'Vever, ' lower right. Vever is an eminent French jewellery house famous for its Art Nouveau designs. The firm’s history dates to 1821 when founder Pierre Vever (1795-1853) opened a jewellery shop in Metz, France. Dimensions: 6 1/8 x 4 3/4 in., (15.5 X 12 cm.) Condition: Very good.
