A SCARCE TURKISH MIQUILET RIFLE WITH DAMASCUS BARREL, 18 C. - A miquelet flintlock rifle, Ottoman Empire, middle of the 18th century. Octagonal, slightly swamped, twist Damascus barrel with seven-groove rifling in 12 mm caliber with a brass front sight and fixed engraved rear sight. Embossed and engraved, vine-shaped, silver inlays on the muzzle and breech. Engraved and inlaid miquelet lock with Arabic inscriptions on the bottom. A characteristic ”Tüfeng” stock with natural and green bone inlays and decorated with various brass rosettes. Three brass barrel bands. The original steel ramrod is engraved at the tip.Mechanically sound. Dimensions: L: 38 3/4 in., (98 cm.) Condition: As good as it may be considering the age.
