A RUSSIAN ALEXANDER BENOIS COSTUME DESIGN DRAWING - Alexandre Benois (Russian, 1870-1960), watercolor and pencil drawing depicting a peasant with a knapsack and staff, titled in Russian on the upper right: ”The birth father.” Framed.Note: Alexandre Nikolayevich Benois was a Russian artist, art critic, historian, preservationist and founding member of Mir iskusstva (World of Art), an art movement and magazine. As a designer for the Ballets Russes under Sergei Diaghilev, Benois exerted what is considered a seminal influence on modern ballet and stage design. Dimensions: 9 1/4 x 12 in., (24 x 30.5 cm.)
