A FRENCH BRONZE FIGURE OF AN ARAB WITH RIFLE BY GUEYTON - A 19th-century French patinated bronze figure depicts a standing man wearing a headscarf (Ghutra or keffiyeh) holding a flintlock rifle, and a hookah by his right foot. A flintlock pistol and two yatagan swords resting on a stool by his left foot. ”Le Marchand d'armes turc” (A Turkish arms merchant), signed G. Gueyton (French, 19th century). Inscribed in Arabic ”Al Bayaa Al Turki” (The Turkish Merchant). Dimensions: H: 35 in., (88.9 cm.) Condition: Very good with a nice bronze patina.
