FRENCH PORCELAIN PLATES, PEOPLE OF EUROPE, 19TH C.
Fine pair of French decorative porcelain plates from the series depicting people of Europe, dated from the second half of the 19th-century. The center is hand-painted with colorful and well-detailed scenes depicting a man and a woman in traditional dress in a landscape background, after the paintings by Luigi del Giudice (Italian, 1777 – 1811). The wide border is decorated with a gilt foliate pattern on a white ground. One plate is titled on the backside: "Costume di Villago, " and the other is titled: "Costume di Villa Badessa." Also features some incised marks. Provenance: Bukowski Auction.
