Russian parcel gilt-silver niello-finished snuff box depicting General Rayevskiy on the lid. On the back: Paris, 31 March 1814. Russian silver hallmarks: I.K, 84 silver proof, ND (Cyrillic) 1827, kokoshnik. P-L: p # 216, plate # 2494. Weight: 3.4 oz., 98 g. Footnote: Nikolay Nikolayevich Raevsky (Николай Николаевич Раевский; September 25 [O.S. 14] 1771 — September 28 [O.S. 16] 1829)[1] was a Russian general and statesman who achieved fame for his feats of arms during the Napoleonic Wars. His family left a lasting legacy in Russian society and culture.
