A magnificent miniature award portrait depicting the Russian Emperor Peter I. A hand-painted enamel depicts the emperor in Maximilian armor. The portrait is surrounded by a silver laurel wreath and a double-gilded border. The miniature is surmounted with an imperial crown with a row of faceted white stones, a round red cabochon in the center, and two oval cabochons in dark blue on the sides. On the reverse, there is a monogram of Peter I engraved in silver. Around the monogram there is an engraving with memorable dates in Russian: Neva 1703, Kalish 1706, Poltava 1709, Gangut 1714, above and below the engraving is also in Russian: "THE IMPOSSIBLE HAPPENS / FOR FIDELITY AND COURAGE ". A wooden case lined with velvet. Weight: 3.1 oz., 88 g.
