A BRITISH STEEL-MOUNTED SHORTSWORD, 19TH C. - An 18th-century English officer’s shortsword with an iron hilt and oval guard, faceted pommel and grip, diamond section knuckle bow. The blade is triangular with needle-point tip, a good thrusting weapon. The scabbard is of leather with three steel fittings and two loose suspension rings. Ca. 1780. Dimensions: L: 39 1/2 in, .
