A Fine Mahogany Traveling Writing Slope, England, Late 18th Early 19th Century - Original brass carrying handles flank the box, one acting also as the draw for a small drawer.  The interior writing surface is lined with black velvet and includes compartments for ink bottles and pen well. The top of the baize slope folds back to reveal a paper storage compartment. A brass catch can be lifted from the side of the frame to hold the box in an opened position.
