FIRST Gemara/גמרא Printed for DAF YOMI Learners, Maseches Eruvin, Printed in - Warsaw 1924 - Printed in 1924, in preparation for the study of Tractate Eruvin in the first study cycle. * The Daf Yomi is a study initiative of the Babylonian Talmud, with one page (daf) studied each day, completing the entire Babylonian Talmud in seven and a half years. Rabbi Meir Shapiro of Lublin initiated the program, after consulting with the Chofetz Chaim and the Rebbe of Ger (the Imrei Emes). He announced it on the 9th of Elul 5683 (1923), during the First Great Assembly of the Agudat Yisrael movement in Poland, and it was decided to begin the study on Rosh Hashanah, 1st of Tishrei 5684 (1923). It is told that Rabbi Meir Shapiro was hesitant to begin the ”Daf Yomi” program until a significant push for the initiative came from the ”Imrei Emes” the Ger Rebbe, Rabbi Avraham Mordechai Alter zt”l, one of the prominent leaders of Charedi Jewry in Poland in those days, who declared on Rosh Hashanah night, ”I am going to study Daf Yomi.” Since that announcement, the idea of Daf Yomi spread among all groups of Israel, & to date 13 Daf Yomi cycles have already been concluded. The completion of the thirteenth cycle was on the 7th of Tevet 5780 (2020). *
