Second edition. The book was first printed in Slavita in 1798. Together with it, the author's book ”Meor Einayim” was also printed in Slavita that same year. About two years later, the book ”Yismach Lev” was reprinted, which is the edition before us. In the second edition of ”Meor Einayim” printed in Polonne (1810), the two books were combined into one. The articles on the Shas printed in ”Yismach Lev” were appended to ”Meor Einayim” on the Torah, under the joint name ”Meor Einayim”, and this is the case in most editions printed after the Polonne edition. * Rabbi Menachem Nachum Twersky of Chernobyl (1730-1798), one of the founders of Hasidism and head of the dynasty of Tzaddikim of the Chernobyl house. He merited to be in the presence of the Baal Shem Tov and was a prominent disciple of the Maggid of Mezeritch. He served as a maggid mesharim (preacher) in Narinsk, Prohovitch, and Chernobyl. After his disciples' urging, he agreed to print his Torah teachings. *
