RARE! Kitzur shulchan Aruch, SECOND EDITION - Lemberg 1866 - Kitzur Shulchan Aruch. Second edition printed by the author. Exceptionally rare. Kitzur Shulchan Aruch by Rabbi Shlomo Ganzfried, second edition with many additions and corrections from the author. Printed in Lemberg year 1866. This is the second edition of the well-known book, which the author first printed in 1864, and since then it has been printed in hundreds (!) of editions. The book printed in 1864 achieved tremendous success, and within a year almost all copies were sold. In Sivan 1865, the author published an announcement in the newspaper 'HaMevaser' which was published in Lviv, stating that the book was out of print and he wished to publish another edition with 'some corrections' and he requested anyone with comments and corrections to send them to him. Before us is the 'second edition' that the author printed in 1866. In bibliography, a 'third edition' is known to have also been printed in Lemberg by Avraham Nisan Zis, which is also particularly rare. However, in the Bibliography Project and in 'Otzar Hasefer'(computerized Hebrew Book Treasury), the second edition was not recorded. The National Library also does not have the second edition before us. A search on WorldCat found a copy only in the Bar Ilan Library. Already in the first period after the printing of Kitzur Shulchan Aruch, it was said that this book achieved the widest distribution after the printing of the Tanakh. And the author's son-in-law wrote that there was no other book that the author saw printed in his lifetime in such a large number of editions and copies. * Rabbi Shlomo ben Rabbi Yosef Ganzfried (1804-1886), was a Halachic Authority/posek and head of the Beit Din in Ungvar. Author of the book ”Kitzur Shulchan Aruch”. Born in the city of Ungvar, Hungary. For most of his life, he served as the head of the Beit Din in his city and authored important Halachic books. His first book is 'Keset HaSofer', a foundational book on the laws of STa”M, which the Chasam Sofer recommended as a mandatory book for STa”M scribes. He became famous mainly for his book ”Kitzur Shulchan Aruch”, which includes most practical Halakhot, most of them from the ”Orach Chaim” section and a minority from other parts of Shulchan Aruch, omitting Halakhot not necessary for every person, and adding words of mussar and good character. 14 editions were printed during the author's lifetime, and in some of them, he added notes and corrections. Since then, the book has been printed dozens of times. The book Kitzur Shulchan Aruch is considered the most widespread Halachic book in Ashkenazi communities (until the spread of the Mishnah Berurah), especially among common people, but even Torah scholars respected his opinion, wrote commentaries on it, or added their own words. Rabbi Shlomo Ganzfried passed away on the 28th of Tammuz 1886 and was buried in his city. *
