Baccarat - BACCARAT (French) -- Galloping Horse, Clear Crystal Sculpture, Signed. A dynamic Baccarat full-lead crystal sculpture of a horse at full gallop, head extended low and forelegs drawn up beneath the body, the whole rising from a swept, asymmetric plinth that carries the line of movement down through the piece. Modeled with satin-finished passages across the body and mane set against brilliantly polished edges, contours and base -- a treatment that reads the animal's musculature in light rather than in detail. The horse has been a signature subject for the house across its Cheval line, and this sweeping galloping form is among its most sculptural expressions. Marks: Engraved Baccarat script signature to the base edge. Condition: Excellent. No chips, cracks, flakes or repairs. Crystal is bright and water-clear with strong fire; light surface handling marks only. Modern French decorative arts. Late 20th century.
