Baccarat - BACCARAT (French) -- Group of Five Clear Crystal Dolphin Sculptures, Signed. Five Baccarat full-lead crystal dolphins, each modeled in a different attitude of movement -- two arched and diving with the tail fluke raised, one rising vertically from a triangular plinth with the tail curled beneath, and two swimming level with the fluke swept back. The forms are handled in Baccarat's characteristic reductive manner, the bodies pulled to smooth tapering volumes with the dorsal fin, pectorals and fluke drawn out to fine polished edges, and the eye and mouth incised with a single line. Assembled as a group they read as a pod in motion; the varied postures let them be arranged as a shoal across a table or shelf. Marks: Each acid-etched with the Baccarat roundel (the decanter, goblet and tumbler device over BACCARAT FRANCE), variously to the flank, the underside or the plinth; some additionally with the engraved Baccarat script signature. Condition: Excellent throughout. No chips, cracks, flakes or repairs; crystal bright and water-clear. Light surface handling marks consistent with careful storage. Modern French decorative arts.
