Vintage Hermes Republique Francaise Green Silk Carre 90 with Box - This Hermes silk carre 90, titled Republique Francaise and designed by Joachim Metz, commemorates the bicentennial of the French Revolution. The design features a central circular wreath of oak leaves enclosing the date 1789, surmounted by a Phrygian cap and flanked by French tricolor flags and ribbons. Two allegorical female figures are seated at the bottom: one to the left holding a balance scale representing Justice, and one to the right inscribing a tablet reading 1789 DECLARATION DES DROITS DE L HOMME ET... representing the Republic. The motto LIBERTE EGALITE FRATERNITE and REPUBLIQUE FRANCAISE are printed in a circular arrangement around the central motif. The border is finished in a vibrant apple green color with hand-rolled and hand-stitched hems. The mark HERMES-PARIS is printed in a banner at the lower right, and a copyright mark reading (C) HERMES is located on the lower left cross-section of the stylized fasces frame.
