Hermes Paris Cheval Turc Silk Carre 90 Scarf - This is a silk scarf by Hermes Paris featuring the Cheval Turc (Turkish Horse) pattern, which was designed by artist Christiane Vauzelles and first issued in 1969. The scarf is a carre 90, constructed from 100 percent silk with characteristic hand-rolled edges. The central design depicts a man in traditional Ottoman-style dress leading an elaborately caparisoned white horse. The horse is outfitted with blue and gold tack, a shield, and a quiver of arrows. This central vignette is set against a light blue background within an ornate frame. The main field of the scarf is a deep burgundy red, decorated with symmetrical, baroque-style acanthus leaf scrolls and floral motifs in shades of gold, brown, and beige. Each of the four corners contains a circular vignette framed by scrollwork, depicting military or ornamental objects against a light blue ground. The scarf is finished with a thin olive green border and a wide black outer border.
