NORTH AMERICAN TRADING BEAD AND TOOTH NECKLACE - Mid 1800's Venetian Cornaline d'Aleppo bead and bone trading necklace featuring leather cord and mountain goat teeth. The Venetian Cornaline d'Aleppo bead most often called ”White Hearts” in the trade were often referred to as ”Hudson Bay” beads. They are two compound layer beads. Their name comes from the word ”Aleppo” and ”Cornaline”. These names were used on Societa Veneziana Conterie sample cards. ”Red or Yellow Aleppo” appear on the 1925 edition of the card (Aleppo being a city in Syria” and ”Cornaline” (The french word for Carnelian, a type of Agate) appears on the 1899 card.
