WWI BRITISH ARMY MACHINE GUNNERS VEST
Olive green wool machine gunners vest once belonging to an officer in the British Army during WWI, with leather cover and two wool shoulder pads, faint marking on inside '+ 8498', 14 x 21 inches. Three gold-colored British Army buttons, marked on verso 'Morton + Crowder - Birmingham'. The vest was used by machine gunners in the British Army to give extra protection from the hot barrels of the guns, as well as combating slippage when carrying machinery. Slight mothing, frayed edges, one tarnished button, and worn parts of the leather.
