DER MENSCHUND DIE SONNE HANS SUREN NATURIST - 'Der Mensch und die Sonne' (Man and the Sun) by HANS SUREN (1885 - 1972), a German officer, author and champion of Naturism. Published 1925, Dieck & Co. Stuttgart, 7.75 x 5.25 inches. Heavily illustrated with b/w photographs showing various nude people performing sports and outdoor activities. Suren's teachings were part of the developing movement of Naturism and Racial Hygiene in Germany in the 1920's and 30's, which included exercising alone or groups while being naked and one with nature. In 1942 Suren was accused of masturbation in public and expelled from the NSDAP and was imprisoned until the end of the Nazi regime. Inscription on title page, else good.
