JAMES FORRESTAL
(1892-1949) last Cabinet-level United States Secretary of the Navy and the first United States Secretary of Defense. Two signed documents for Lieutenant Commander Alfred Wynne Putnam. First document promotes Putnam to Ensign with signature at bottom margin. Second releases him from the Navy with printed signature at bottom margin. Included in lot is a commendation document signed by P.N.L. Bellinger, Vice Admiral of the Navy. Framed in simple frame. Approx. 11 x 8.5 inches. Soiling on promotion document at margins.
