ANASTAS MIKOYAN
(1895 - 1978) Armenian Communist revolutionary, Old Bolshevik, and Soviet statesman during the mandates of Lenin, Stalin, Khrushchev, and Brezhnev. He was the only Soviet politician who managed to remain at the highest levels of power within the Communist Party as the leaders changed. A printed request sent by Comrade Gusev to Mikoyan asking if he would authorize a payment: 'Foreign economic association 'Machinoimport' submitted an application to the Foreign Exchange Department of the Ministry for a visa to open urgent letters of credit in the United States for a total amount of 431,325.28 US dollars. Equipment has been supplied by the companies and payments must be completed before March 18 of this year. I am requesting permission to make payment.' The document is signed in blue pencil by Mikoyan and inscribed with 'Agreed', dated March 13, 1947. Staple holes on the left side, 1 page, 8 x 12 inches. Very good.
