SOVIET ARMY GENERAL NIKOLAI LYASHCHENKO
(1910 - 2000) Soviet Army general. He fought on the Republican side in Spain and against Nazi Germany. He was a Hero of the Soviet Union and a recipient of the Order of Zhukov, the Order of Lenin, the Order of the October Revolution, the Order of the Red Banner, the Order of Suvorov, the Order of Kutuzov, the Order of the Patriotic War, the Order of the Red Star, and the Order for Service to the Homeland in the Armed Forces of the USSR. A New Year's card with a typed note inside addressed to Field Marshal of Engineering Troops Viktor Kharchenko: 'I sincerely congratulate you with the New - the anniversary year 1970. From the bottom of my heart, I am wishing you good health, happiness in your personal life, and new successes in your fruitful work in the name of the prosperity of our beloved Soviet homeland. Commander of the Central Asian Military District Army General N. Lyashchenko.' Signed in blue ink and dated December 25, 1969, Moscow. 5.5 x 3 in when folded, very good.
