SOVIET AMBASSADOR ARMY GENERAL ALEXEI YEPISHEV
(1908 - 1985) was a Soviet political officer, politician and diplomat. He served as the Ambassador of the Soviet Union to the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (1960 - 1962) and to the People's Republic of Romania (1955 - 1960). Yepishev was also Chief of the Main Political Directorate of the Soviet Army and Navy from 1962 to 1985. During WWII, he earned the rank of Army General and participated in the Battle of Kursk as well as the Lower Dnieper Offensive. He was honored as a Hero of the Soviet Union. A red, white and gold greeting card with a typed note inside addressed to Field Marshal of Engineering Troops Viktor Kharchenko congratulating him with the Day of Soviet Army and Navy. Original signature in blue ink. 5.75 x 3.75 in. when folded, a few minor stains inside.
