DEUTSCHER FICHTE BUND SPREADING ANTISEMITIC PROPAGANDA
Rare letter from the German Fichte Bund sent to a Philip Ross, a Nazi sympathizer in Hoboken, New Jersey, in August 1935. Theodor Kessmeier, son of the founder and director of the organization, responds to an inquiry from an American Nazi supporter: '...we noted that you are going to establish a sypathetic movement...in aim to the present German Party...the jews controlled press are still misrepresenting Germany on a large scale, it is therefore we have to mail our circulars throughout the world.' Then follows a long list of publications that will be sent, including an 'important peace message of our leader...circular No. 642 gives you a clear perspective on the jewish problem...we are just going to print another important circular: 'Jewry and Penal Punishment'...ready to send you a quantity upon desire...essential that our publications are spread...with influential persons...we should like to extend our work on the Pacific coast'. 8.25 x 11.5 inches, mailing folds, with transmittal envelope canceled in Hamburg 31.8.1935. Very good.
The Deutscher Fichte Bund was a German propaganda agency that tried to systematically influence public opinion abroad in favor of National Socialism. It was founded on 29 January 1914 as the 'Reichsbund für Deutschtumsarbeit' (Reich Federation for German Studies) and was directly subordinate to the Reich Ministry of Public Enlightenment and Propaganda during the Third Reich.
