Tokuriki Tomikichiro - Japanese Woodblock Prints - Two vintage Japanese color woodblock prints by Tokuriki Tomikichiro, including ”Minori no Aki” (Fall Harvest) and ”Ohara, Sanzen-in.” ”Minori no Aki” depicts a rural harvest scene with Mount Fuji rising in the background and bears printed artist and publisher markings lower left. ”Ohara, Sanzen-in” depicts the tree-lined approach and stone steps of Sanzen-in temple in Kyoto, with inscription upper left. Fine examples of Tokuriki's Japanese landscape printmaking, combining traditional woodblock techniques with simplified forms and atmospheric color. Vintage condition with toning, staining, creasing, edge wear and other age-related imperfections. Please review photos carefully for condition. 16” x 11 1/2” and 11 1/2” x 10 3/4”. Tokuriki Tomikichiro (1902-2000, Japan) was a Kyoto-born artist and printmaker and an important figure in 20th-century Japanese woodblock printing. Known particularly for landscapes, temples and views of Kyoto and Mount Fuji, he worked in both the traditional publisher-based woodblock tradition and the modern Sosaku Hanga movement.
