Li Keran (attrib) - Chinese Ink & Color on Paper - Chinese ink and color painting on paper attributed to Li Keran, depicting two children playing beneath blossoming trees with two resting water buffalo below, a subject closely associated with the artist's celebrated rural compositions. The painting bears a calligraphic inscription and multiple red artist's seals. The original presentation envelope is included and is titled ”Herding Buffalo Welcoming Spring,” along with export labels and markings. Also included are Japanese newspaper sheets dated January 1, 1973, which were used as protective wrapping. The artwork measures 39” x 19 1/2” and is presented folded as found. A student of Qi Baishi and Lin Fengmian, he combined traditional Chinese ink painting techniques with modern compositional ideas. His works are held in major museums worldwide and remain highly sought after by collectors of modern Chinese art.
