Divine Rainbow Fly Rod Model R3786 - The F.D. Divine Company manufactured this six-strip split bamboo fly rod in Utica, New York, during the mid-to-late 1920s. It features the signature Rainbow medium-slow action taper with serial number R3736 or R3738 stamped into the metal reel seat. The rod features a three-piece configuration originally supplied with two matching tip sections. The butt section and both tips retain their original factory length of 37.5 inches. The middle section measures 36.5 inches due to a historical ferrule repair that shortened it by one inch. It performs best with a modern double taper six-weight floating fly line. The rod includes its original 40-inch stenciled factory cloth carrier bag. CONDITION: The middle section was historically shortened by one inch during a ferrule repair and measures 36.5 in. Cork grip shows soiling, compression, fissures, and small losses. Reel seat and metal fittings show finish wear, scratches, tarnish, and verdigris. Rod sections exhibit scattered finish and wrap wear. Bag is heavily soiled and stained with wear and fraying to the ties.
