Japanese Kyu-Gunto Style Dress Sword - Japanese kyu-gunto-style dress sword with curved single-edged bright-finished steel blade, gilt-brass D-shaped guard and backstrap decorated with cherry blossom and foliate motifs, black ribbed composition grip with wire binding, and plated-steel scabbard with a single suspension ring. Blade measures 31 inches; 38 inches overall with scabbard. CONDITION: Blade has scattered scratches and spotting, with several edge nicks and localized corrosion near the tip. Hilt has finish wear, tarnish, and loose or broken grip wire. Scabbard plating has widespread spotting, pitting, scratches, and areas of oxidation.
