Bidspirit auction | Antique Bradley & Hubbard ”Rayo”

Antique Bradley & Hubbard ”Rayo” Kerosene Table Lamp for Standard Oil - Antique Rayo center-draft kerosene table lamp, manufactured by the Bradley & Hubbard Mfg. Company (Meriden, Connecticut), for the Standard Oil Company, with a nickle-plated brass font and base with pierced foot, a 9-7/8” (DIA) white milk glass shade resting on a metal tripod spider support, and a clear glass chimney, circa 1905-1920, 28-3/8” (H to top of chimney). The Standard Oil Company produced these as a way of increasing their sales of kerosene, sometimes even giving them away for free if a customer purchased enough kerosene, but they were notorious for being real fuel-hogs, leading many to suspect that Standard Oil had them that way on purpose. CONDITION: Untested. There is a small chip on the bottom edge of the shade, please see photos. SHIPPING: In-house shipping available for this lot.
