Doris M. Jarrell (MICH 1916-2013) Winter Landscape Watercolor Painting - Doris (Moore) Jarrell (Michigan, 1916-2013), watercolor painting on paper, depicting a winter landscape with footsteps in the snow disappearing into the distance, signed lower right ”Doris M. Jarrell,” circa mid 20th Century, in a period silver-tone metal frame measuring 20-1/4” x 27-3/16”. Jarrell was born in Marquette and went on to have careers in journalism with both the Detroit Free Press and the Lansing State Journal. In one article from 1960 for the Lansing State Journal she writes about understanding and appreciating modern art, ”...it came as a revelation that today's artist has many vital methods with which to bring nature alive, or to describe vividly on canvas the foibles of 20th century life.” CONDITION: Not examined out of frame.
