Mid 19th C. English Sampler ”Sarah Ann Gayford...Aged 10” on Linen - Antique framed embroidered schoolgirl's sampler, featuring alphabet rows, a pious verse reflecting about the passage of time, various decorative elements, and ”Sarah Ann Gayford her work aged 10 years”, possibly for Sarah Ann Gayford (English, 1842 - 1892), most likely stitched on linen and from the third quarter of the 19th Century, in a later dark stained wood frame measuring 16-1/2” x 17-1/2”. CONDITION: Not examined out of frame. Some discoloration, staining, and possible fading to sampler, frame shows minor scuffing and some damage at corners, please see photos.
