Antique Hood Rubbers Wood Shipping Crate - Early 20th Century - Antique Hood Rubbers wood shipping crate, with hinged lid, early 20th Century, measuring 17” (D) x 27-5/8” (W) x 12-3/4” (H). Established in 1896, the Hood Rubber Company (Watertown, Massachusetts) was a rubber and shoes manufacturing company that is credited with debuting an early or industry-first basketball sneaker in 1914, featuring diamond and circle suction soles. CONDITION: Normal surface wear and oxidation to wood, as well as some minor corrosion to some of the metal components, all commensurate with age and use.
