World War II Commemorative and First Day Covers – U.S. and International Issues, 1940s–1970s - World War II–themed commemorative covers mounted on album pages. Included are U.S. covers marking the 30th anniversary of the Allied landing in Normandy (1974), along with international covers featuring events such as Belgium surrenders, Battle for Paris, Germany invades Denmark, British bombing of Rotterdam Harbor, Holland surrenders, and Germany invades Belgium. Additional covers include France signs surrender, German forces crossing the Aisne River, and “A Thousand Bombers Raid Cologne.” Also present is a U.S. Postal Service first day cover for the 1971 United States–Europe airmail issue. Each cover is postmarked and tied to specific World War II commemorations or anniversaries.
