U.S. Commemorative and Event Covers – Edison Centennial, Pony Express, Bicentennial, Postal Card Centennial, and Local Issues (1930s–1970s) - This lot contains a group of commemorative and philatelic event covers spanning the 1930s–1970s. Included are two covers marking the 100th anniversary of Thomas Edison’s electric light (1979), a 100th anniversary cover for the first U.S. postal card (1973), a 1930 watershed exposition cover with 4¢ Conservation issue, and local commemoratives from BORPEX ’75 and SOCOP ’75. Also present are Pony Express re-ride commemoratives (1983), a 1953 Stagecoach Line Centennial cover, Bicentennial issues from Fort Wayne, Indiana (1976), Havrepex ’76 “Spirit of ’76” show cover, and Bicentennial-themed Independence Hall and Hawaiian philatelic event covers. Together these represent a variety of local and national commemorative issues tied to historical anniversaries and stamp club events.
