United States President John Kennedy - signed photo. January 1961

A signed photograph of the 35th President of the United States John Kennedy. Kennedy appeared to speak at the Democratic Party Conference in Los Angeles as a presidential candidate on her behalf, June 1960. Photographed about six months before being elected president of the United States in January 1961, and three years before finding his death in the assassination.

John Fitzgerald Kennedy [1917-1963] The 35th President of the United States, from 1961 to his 1963 assassination. Kennedy was the president at the height of the Cold War, and most of his presidency focused on managing relations with the Soviet Union. He was a member of the Democratic Party and prior to his term as president represented the state of Massachusetts in the House of Representatives and Senate. Kennedy is the first and only Catholic to serve as president of the United States, the youngest elected president in American history [elected at the age of 43], and the first president born in the 20th century.

Kennedy was murdered during his tenure in Dallas, Texas on November 22, 1963 while riding in an open car on city streets. Beside him in the vehicle were his wife Jacqueline and Texas Governor John Connelly. The killer, Lee Harvey Oswald, was arrested that day and charged that night. Jack Ruby shot Oswald and killed him two days later, before a trial. The FBI and Warren Commission have officially concluded that Oswald acted alone. The House of Representatives Committee on Assassinations agreed that Oswald fired and killed Kennedy, but added that Kennedy was most likely murdered as a result of a conspiracy. In his post, Lyndon Johnson inherited him, who continued his tenure and legacy.
